Description

This is a 45-60 minute DBQ lesson with materials on the Declaration of Independence. Students will analyze two scholarly secondary sources and two modified sections of the Declaration of Independence by reading them and using the content to fill out a graphic organizer. The information within the completed graphic organizer will be used to write an argumentative, document-supported paragraph on the following prompt: "Why did the Founding Fathers Write the Declaration of Independence?" This lesson is adapted from Stanford History Education Group (SHEG). The documents can be uploaded, for student use, to Google Classroom/Drive or, if desired, easily printed out for students to write upon.
